Steve Yzerman and The Detroit Red Wings select Marco Kasper eighth overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. The Austrian born Center played this past season with Rogle of the SHL. At 6'2" Kasper is already a complete player on both sides of the puck, he is high IQ and can drive plays in both zones, and isnt afraid to get in the dirty areas. The decision has been made! Derek Lalonde is the new head coach of the Detroit Red Wings. Lalonde was the assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning since 2018, and was one of Steve Yzerman's last hires before stepping down as their General Manager.
