Maternity leave can give mothers time and space to reflect on where they are with their careers and whether this path will still work for them in this new chapter of their lives. Often, we find that our current employment doesn’t provide the flexibility and time to build a new life with our children so maternity leave is the best opportunity to start looking at designing a lifestyle that will work around your family and light you up inside.My guest today is Emma Powell, a physiotherapist and pilates instructor who also owns a small business while raising four children. After 13 years of working for others, Emma saw the need for a female-led health space in Ballarat so she courageously left her job and created bodyBEgood.bodyBEgood’s physio team treats sports injuries, spinal pain, work-related injuries, women's and men's health, chronic pain, and many other problems. They also run 3 different types of classes: Reformer Pilates Classes, Clinical Pilates Classes, and Pre and Postnatal Pilates Classes so there is the perfect class for everyone!In this episode, we’re exploring how Emma has built her pilates business while raising four children. Emma shares how the experience of having caesareans for all four of her children’s births led her to feel lost without enough information out there for recovery. As business owners, who are the face of our brand, we can sometimes develop a fear surrounding competitors copying our work which leads us to hide it away, hold it close and not put it out there.In this episode, I’m sharing how to manage this concern and give you three different ways to reframe it to help you get yourself out there more and move past worrying about copycats.It’s important to remember that we are all unique with our own personal flavour and take on any given product or service. If you have built your brand by showing your authentic self, competitors will just not be able to copy your content with the same effect.I absolutely don’t want you to hide your amazing content away from the world because of copycats. Should you show your prices on your website?I get asked this question all of the time. When you’re told that you should or shouldn’t show your prices, I want you to check in with yourself on what actually makes sense to you (and not somebody else).In this episode, we’re exploring three helpful things to consider when deciding whether or not you should show your prices on your website.We kick off this conversation by discussing what is simple for you, your client and exactly what makes sense for your particular business. When we don’t disclose our prices we add an extra step to our process, speak to more people, use up more time, and lower our conversion rate.I’ll discuss any fears you have surrounding displaying your prices and the common narratives we’re told by others about what we “have” to do. I would love for you to always question these ‘should’ statements whenever you’re told them in your business and decide whether it is going to work specifically for you. I know how incredibly easy it is to overcomplicate things as business owners. We’re often flat-out wearing all of the hats and trying to spread ourselves across every aspect of our business.
