Also, Connor recaps the series against the St. Louis Cardinals and another loss that could be placed on the shoulders of a weakened offensive attack. Next, the NL All Star roster has been announced, and while Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber deservingly made the team, Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola were among some of the biggest snubs in the National League. In today’s episode, Connor breaks down last night’s Philadelphia Phillies’ loss to the Washington Nationals despite continued brilliance from Kyle Schwarber at the dish. With 2 more home runs in the game, Schwarber notched back to back multi home run games, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the fact that the rest of the lineup only had 1 hit combined. Also, Odubel Herrera had a rough play in center field that many feel cost the Phillies the game, should he shoulder all of the blame? Next, a preview of Phillies-Nats game 3 with Bailey Falter and Joan Aldo facing off in dueling spot starts. Finally, in Stepping Off, Connor gives props to the Phillies on their awesome display during their postgame firework shows over the past week or so at Citizens Bank Park! Next, we take a look at the standings in the NL and in the NL Wild Card race and break down whether or not the Phillies, who are currently in the 3rd and final NL Wild Card spot just above the St. Louis Cardinals, can hold that position during the 2nd half of the season! Finally, in Off The Poll, will the Phillies have a better, worse, or similar 2nd half to what they did in their first 81 games? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
