Arnold MO native Rusty Wallace started his NASCAR career in 1980, joining the Winston Cup series in ’84, winning Rookie of the Year, and going on to take the cup championship in 1989. He retired in 2005 with a career that saw him achieve 36 pole starts, 349 top 10 finishes, and 55 wins! And he came to KC to talk about the upcoming Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway this September, he gave us a call to talk about that and more!!
Our friend actor/comedian Dave Coulier has done everything from reality TV with “The Surreal Life”, hosting “America’s Funniest People” , worked as a voice actor for numerous cartoons from “Scooby Doo” and “Muppet Babies”, not to mention his work on the long running sitcom, “Full House”…not to mention he’s a man’s man, learning to fly, playing hockey, and building his own house…as well as being one of the nicest guys in show business. And now he’s starring in a new show on the faith-based streaming service, PureFlix…and it hits a little too close to home for us, as it’s about a morning show radio host…and we related a little too much to some of us. We talked to Dave this morning about the new show, operating heavy machinery…and the Alanis Morrisette story that won’t go away!
Retired astronaut Jose Hernandez is a true study in tenacity. The son of Mexican immigrants, he studied to be an engineer, and eventually developing the first full-field digital mammography imaging system, used to aid in the early detection of breast cancer...and that was BEFORE he joined the NASA Space Program. Then, he was turned down 11 times before FINALLY making it to space in ’09 spending 14 days on the International Space Station as a mission specialist. And, apart from all of that, his story goes much, much deeper. And while we were supposed to talk to him about the new images from space taken by the James Webb Space Telescope…because we love astronauts the way we do…we felt the need to dig into his story…
Last Friday on the show, we heard the story of Brittany Campbell, the Hawaiian resident who came home from a trip to the mainland with her husband to find a man living in their house, who as it turned out, had plans to “transform” them…And that terrifying tale is covered tonight on the debut episode of the new Lifetime docu-series, “Phrogging: Hider In My House”! But on Friday we felt like we didn’t get to fully explore this bizarre story, so we brought Brittany back to talk more about it!!
The new Lifetime series “Phrogging: Hider In My House” explores the scary phenomenon of people secretly living inside someone else’s home. From the man in the attic to the creeper in the crawl space, each episode features two first-hand accounts of survivors…one of which was the story of Brittany Campbell, the Hawaiian resident who came home from a trip to the mainland with her husband to find a man living in their house, who as it turned out, had plans to “transform” them. We talked to Brittany this morning to find out more!!
While he started his career as a drummer in the 1970s, Andrew Dice Clay shifted gears in ’78 and launched a career in stand-up comedy. He moved from Brooklyn to Hollywood and crafted an act that, by the late 80s, had made him the biggest name in comedy…becoming the FIRST comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden two consecutive nights!! His non-PC act raised eyebrows and courted controversy, but he always stuck to his guns…and launched an acting career that saw him starring on his own Showtime series, and winning rave reviews for his dramatic work in the 2018 movie “A Star Is Born”. And now he’s rolling into KC to perform three nights at the Comedy Club of KC, so we got him on the phone to catch up with this comedy legend!!
We here on the Morning Show have dealt with a lot of loss over the last year, from family to extended family and friends. And because of that, there has been much discussion of burial vs cremation...but recently we found about a relatively new method called "aquamation"! Aquamation, also known as alkaline hydrolysis, is a water-based, sustainable method of final disposition. It is sometimes called liquid cremation. Aquamation has no direct emissions of harmful greenhouse gases or mercury and requires no burning of fossil fuels. So to find out more, we talked to funeral director for the HT May & Sons Funeral Home, Thomas May, who told us all about it.
